Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I'm new to Zoom, is it easy to use? Will everyone be able to see me?

A. We have found that Zoom is really user friendly! Find out how to get started with Zoom using this guide.

You will be able to access Zoom on any computer/phone/tablet/device that has WIFI. Once you go to zoom.us/join and enter the Zoom ID and password UWinnipeg, you will be prompted to join with or without video. Your privacy is very important. If you do not wish to share your video with the group, please use online options at the bottom of your Zoom screen to stop your feed. Upon accessing the meeting, your audio will already be muted. We ask that you keep it muted so all participants can better hear the instructor facilitate the fitness class.

Q. What time should I log into Zoom for the class?

A. Please login 5 minutes prior to the start of class to ensure the instructor can start on time. There is a waiting room and the instructor will admit you into the meeting. Once the start time has passed you will no longer be able join the class.

Q. Do I need any equipment to take these fitness classes?

A. No equipment is necessary for any of the classes except TBW Plus! However, if you have a mat you can use one and we suggest you keep water and a towel close by!

Q. I am not a student or staff member at UWinnipeg. Can I still attend these fitness classes?

A. Absolutely! These virtual fitness classes are for anyone and we strongly encourage all members of the community to take advantage of this service.

Q. Is the University of Winnipeg offering any other online exercise resources?

Yes! The University of Winnipeg Athletic Therapy Centre is thinking of you during these times. They are offering tele-rehab appointments via Zoom meetings for specific injury concerns and have developed some easy-to-follow exercise programs. Visit their website for stretching, posture correction, self-massage, and core exercises you can do from the comfort of your home.
